Northern State University’s Breann Jackson (Women’s Track and Field) and Skye Warwick (Men’s Basketball) have been named as the Qdoba Scholar Athletes of the Week for their academic and athletic efforts last week. Nominees must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify.
Breann Jackson led the women’s track and field team at the Cobber Duals, winning the weight throw. Jackson’s mark of 18.52-meters moved her to seventh in the nation in the event. She threw almost two meters farther than her closest opponent in second at 16.72-meters.
Skye Warwick led the Wolves in their upset victory over No. 1 Augustana University, 90-81. The senior tallied 16 points, 12 of which came in the second half with the Vikings on the Wolves heels. He shot 7-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the arc against Augustana, while adding a steal and a rebound. In night two, Warwick tallied 18 points, two steals, two rebounds, and an assist. He averaging 17 points in the two games and shot 65.0% from the floor and 53.8% from the 3-point line in the two games. Warwick’s 34 points move him to 29th overall on the NSU All-Time Scorers list.
