OCTOBER 9th The Northern soccer team rallied to pick up a 1-0 overtime victory against the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles. Snapping a six game losing streak, the Wolves improve to 5-6-0 overall and 3-6-0 in conference play, while the Golden Eagles drop to 2-9-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the NSIC. The Wolves maintained possession for a majority of the first half, forcing six corner kicks for a total of eight shots versus the UMC defense. Although Northern State applied pressure offensively, they came up scoreless in the first 45 minutes of action.
NSU continued to force the ball into their opponents’ zone, tallying 11 additional shots in the second half. After completing regulation play, the Wolves and the Golden Eagles remained locked in at 0-0 to send the match into 10-minute overtime. With 39 seconds remaining in the overtime period, redshirt sophomore Darian Leschewski received a pass from Shianne Rosselli and instantly found an opening on the right side of the pitch.
