The Moscow Ballet Company Comes to Northern

On November 29, Northern State Uuniversity will host The Moscow Ballet, a world-renowned ballet company. The Moscow Ballet Company will be performing their production of the Great Russian Nutcracker on NSU’s very own stage in JFAC.
The ballet company is making its stop in Aberdeen while on its way to Sioux Falls during its 2016 North American Tour. The performance will include the 40 person cast, a 60-foot growing Christmas tree, handmade costumes, and sets that were created in Russia and put on the road for this 100+ city tour.
One of the most interesting aspects of this world class performance is the opportunity presented to the dancing youth of Aberdeen. Students, both males and females ages 7-17 with at least one year of ballet experience, will be able to audition to perform onstage during the performance of the Great Russian Nutcracker.
Aspiring young dancers of Aberdeen will audition for minor roles such as Mice, Party Guest, Snowflakes, and more. The auditions will be held at the Aberdeen Recreational and Cultural Center Dance Program, which is also the host studio for the ballet.
The dance program at the Aberdeen Recreational and Cultural Center Dance Program boasts over 700 students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels.
All of the students who meet the criteria are encouraged to audition for this chance of a lifetime. This is truly an opportunity not to be missed for these young performers.
Since the performance is only slotted for one night, potential ticket buyers are encouraged to get their tickets as soon as possible. Tickets range in price from $30.00 to $70.00 with discounts being given to Seniors over 65.
There is also a special program through the local chapter of the Girl Scouts of America in which parties of 10 or more people receive a discount with the presentation of the necessary paperwork.
If possible, do not miss out on this wonderful opportunity. An event of this magnitude has not been held in Aberdeen in quite some time, and NSU could not be luckier or more thankful to be hosting this world-renowned ballet company.
