Men’s basketball fell to Augustana 88-64 in the quarterfinal round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament. The Wolves drop to 22-8 overall. The Wolves struggled to get things going in the first half, ultimately trailing 44-27. They chipped away at the lead in the second, but were unable to overcome the deficit. The Wolves shot 37.5 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from the foul line in the game.
Northern had their looks in the game, attempting one more shot than the Vikings. Both team’s tallied 30 points in the paint, but AU out-scored NSU in points off turnovers, second chance points, and fast break points.
Logan Doyle led three scorers in double figures with 15 points in 23 minutes of action. Mack Arvidson followed with 11 points, including a team leading three made 3-pointers, and Ian Smith with ten points. Gabe King and DJ Pollard rounded out the NSU starters with nine and six points respectively.
Bo Fries led the team off the bench, recording eight points including two made 3-pointers in the second half. Carter Evans, Michael Schreiber, and Justin Decker notched the final five bench points for the Wolves scoring two, two, and one each.
