Wolves Head to NSIC vs. MIAA Showdown

   The Northern State University track and field team returns to action April 6 through April 8 at the Northwest Missouri State NSIC vs. MIAA Showdown. The heptathlon and decathlon will run Thursday and Friday with the full schedule beginning at 4p.m. on Friday afternoon.
   The Wolves opened the outdoor season from the Jerry Quiller Classic in Colorado three weeks ago. Highlighting the competition was a new school record from NSU sophomore Itoitz Rodriguez in the 400m dash, finishing in 47.94 in second overall. As a team, the Wolves tallied 25 top-15 finishes on the women’s side and another 43 on the men’s side. Following the season opener, the NSIC released the outdoor track and field polls with the women picked sixth and the men picked eighth.
   Dakotah Bullen and Michaela Schlecht were picked as the athletes to watch for the Wolves on the women’s side. Rodriguez and indoor track and field All-American Deshonn Brown were picked as the athletes to watch for the NSU men.

   Four Wolves will open competition with the decathlon, including Kelson Brewer, Deveyonn Brown, Bryce Malsam, and TJ Hochstetler. The full NSU squad will then open the meet Friday afternoon and compete through the day on Saturday.
   NSU will match-up against Minnesota State, Emporia State, William Jewell, Southwest Minnesota State, Northwest Missouri State, Winona State, Concordia-St .Paul, Washburn, Wayne State, Nebraska Kearney, and Upper Iowa.
